In 2004, a group of Thai and American volunteers began interviewing women working in the sex industry and began to discover numerous factors that made women feel forced into that work. This group discovered that the industry was constantly causing harm not just to workers but also to children growing up away from their parents. Some daughters were also following in the footsteps of their mothers.
Meeting multiple women wanting a new life, these volunteers started looking for ways to help them. The Thai Restoration Community Development Foundation came out of their desire to build healthy women, children, and whole families, so that no one has to think consider sex work is an option.
The primary goal of Thai Restoration Community Development Foundation is to help as many people as we can to overcome the barriers of poverty and emotional trauma. Our ultimate desire is to see Thailand as a safe place for vulnerable people, who are not only protected from exploitation, but have the opportunity to fulfill their potential.
